The publisher, Carsten Giersch, Dr. phil. habil., is a senior partner at Berlin Risk and head of its research and knowledge partner, the Berlin Risk Institute. He is also founding partner and managing director at ALL AML, an anti-financial crime consultancy focused on the prevention of money-laundering and terrorist financing.
His scholarly work includes various academic articles and two books in the area of international security and risk assessment. The first book and doctoral thesis (1998), analyzed the issues of international conflict management in the Yugoslav wars from 1991-1995. The second book (2009) contains the habilitation thesis for professorship and is a fundamental study of human strategic interactions. It develops risk assessment tools to identify and mitigate threats to peace and international security.
